Dutch outlaw smoking tobacco in coffee shops

Since July 1st Dutch bars and other public areas are supposed to be free of cigarettes. Which is fine, since in other countries it showed to have good effects on people’s health and no negative effect on profits. However, what about coffee shops?

The government could not outlaw smoking pot in coffee shops, since pot is technically illegal in the first place. You cannot outlaw killing people in church, if killing is not allowed to do anywhere.

Therefore, the Dutch health department is checking pot smokers’ “joints” in the shops for tobacco. Because that is illegal. Bad for your health, you know?

And speaking of smoking, see this! It is the report that came out today, showing how high penalties do not help to make people use less. On this table you can see that 42% of the Americans has used or uses Marijuana, and only 19% of the Dutch have. The cocaine figure is even more shocking. (The number says “has ever used” and does not show how much they use.)
