Pictures: California State Fair 2008

Yes! I did change the website template around. It was necessary because they old one does not know how to deal with pictures very well, and this one looks a little fresher, right?

Last weekend I made it to my second California State Fair in Sacramento. After last year’s deep fried coca cola, I expected something absolutely nuts from the deep fryer this year, but no, there was nothing new. What was present, were other “delicious” deep fried “meals” and many of their fans. I have tried to take some good pictures of these “fans” but at times it was just too embarrassing. Or they would not fit on my non-fish eye camera. There were people in wheel chairs with amputated legs, and their size suggested it might have been from diabetes. Also, I came across a bazillion pound lady in her electric wheel chair, with oxygen bottles connected to her nose, and a beer in her hand. She was wasted. The saddest version was a 2 bazillion pound lady in a motorized chair who had attached a mini trailer to it to drag her kids around in.

She was eating.

But apparently that is what the State Fair is all about, people watching and bad food. Or watching big people eat bad food. I’m not sure. The things I actually did capture on camera, are here for your pleasure:

Bratwurst has a way of being “original”. So there must be a way of it being “copied”. My guess is that they do that in other countries.

If you get really hungry, you can always buy this super old pop corn.

In this interesting sheep game, the sheep all get to sniff old panties, and have to bite the owners genitals once they have located them. The fasted sheep to find the victims crotch and turn its butt to the judge wins. (First price is a large plate of Shoarma.)

Even though the State Fair is officially not an art festival, some people walk around with gorgeous cookie monster tattoos. Originally the picture was somewhat smaller. The nice lady told me she had no idea how the picture got this big, while eating cookies.

Everybody knows the world sucks, until you are upside down. That is why these people make so much money of hanging you in public.

It is a little hard to see, and a well kept secret also, but here it is: The Space Age Shower “ThunderHead”. They use the same products as NASA uses! (Like plastic, and water) Isn’t it awesome how it is all portrayed as super fancy, but on the picture the water seems to “drip out” like any other shower?

I knew I would find something orange, if I would look hard enough. These are German quality towels. That does not mean that they are loud or on time, it means that they clean like crazy! They absorb all sorts of (German) fluids, including the salesperson head-sweat. Achtung für die Reinheit!

Back to the food: Bible Ice Cream. God Bless our bellies.

And Herby! The little girl on the picture tried to talk to Herby. But Herby is an antisocial ass in real life (like most celebrities) and did not respond. I told the girl to yell his name a little louder, her mom disagreed.

Do you (Dutchies) remember your mom did not give you a Snickers because it was bad for you? Here they are deep fried. And all kids love them. :)

Very successful weekend. Lots of fun, lots of people watching, lots of “food”. I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure your electric wheel chair is fully charged, it is a long way from the bratwurst stand to the fried snickers shop. ;)
