Because of the American electoral system nobody seems to be bothered with the millions of people in NY or LA, or Houston and Dallas. Their states are “lost” to either the Democrats or Republicans, so presidential candidates go around campaigning in silly states they don’t care about anymore after the election. America really is quite a silly democracy. But even though Americans will aknowledge the flaws in the system, they will never change it, because “it is in the constitution” which is the only thing holier than the bible. They do love their ancient documents.

So far my frustration. :) However: it leads to funky “focus groups” which is where the “necessary votes” have to come from. One of these groups is “the elderly jews in Florida”. I am not kidding. Elderly Jews in Florida get more attention in the news than all 40 million residents in forementioned big cities together. Also that is American democracy.
